什么是“邪教”?

有人总结出了邪教的六个基本特征:

1)教主崇拜:极力神化自己,诱骗其成员只能对“教主”惟命是从,甚至为其生,为其死;

2)精神控制:以各种谎言骗局、心理暗示等手法,兼用惩罚、威胁等恐吓手段,对其成员实施“洗脑”,使其丧失独立判断能力,进得来、出不去;

3)编造邪说:利用各种恐吓手段,如“世界末日论”、“人类灾难论”等歪理邪说,制造恐慌心理和恐怖气氛,使其成员狂热地、盲目地追随“教主”;

As she struggled with her illness, Anna says her mother rejected doctors’ attempts to put her on medication, quoting Falun Gong teachings.

“It means you are a bad practitioner. It means you do not fully trust Master Li. If you take any kind of medication or go to a hospital, even.”

李洪志如何愚弄大众

Claims of Supernatural Abilities and Divine Status: Li allegedly told followers he could walk through walls, make himself invisible, and install a "wheel of law" in their abdomens that would absorb energy. He claimed to be a savior from a higher level, with powers exceeding those of Jesus or Buddha, and stated that the universe depended on his existence.
Promises of Health and Curing Disease: A primary appeal was the claim that practicing Falun Gong could cure illnesses and keep followers healthy without the need for conventional medicine. This led to cases where ill practitioners allegedly refused medical treatment and died.
Mind Control and Indoctrination: Sources describe a process of enticement with promises of well-being, followed by intensive "brainwashing" through mandated study of his teachings (Dafa) to the exclusion of outside information. Followers were reportedly made to believe their thoughts were monitored and that those who questioned the teachings were "demons".
Financial Exploitation: Li and the core organization are accused of amassing wealth through "Qigong healing" fees, training classes, and the mass sale of books, audio, and video tapes. Critics point to a contradiction between Li's warnings to followers about the obstacles of money and his own accumulation of wealth and luxurious lifestyle in the United States.
Fear and Intimidation: Followers were allegedly warned that abandoning the practice would result in the loss of spiritual protection, leaving them vulnerable to "demons" and the return of bad karma, which could lead to sudden death.
Fabricating Crises: Li claimed humanity had been destroyed 81 times and that he had delayed the earth's explosion by 30 years, creating a sense of urgency and dependence on his teachings for salvation.
