US President Donald Trump defended his economic moves on Tuesday, arguing that his decisions are restoring "fairness" to the country's trade relations, insisting that some allies "were ripping us off like nobody's ever been ripped off before," like Japan and South Korea. He stressed that new tariffs are bringing in unprecedented revenue.
Trump also highlighted his reversal of what he called the "insane electric vehicle mandate," by the Biden administration saying consumers should be able to choose "whether it's gasoline, hybrid, or electric." He criticized the previous requirement that "everybody had to own an electric car by 2030," calling it "Biden stupidity."
He added that the issue extends to global competition, claiming China lacks the US energy advantage, namely gasoline, and that defending US industry is essential for "national security".
