The photo shows the archaeological and exhumation work that was carried out in Lubań, Poland. It depicts a mass grave from the fighting for what was then Lauban, Germany. The visible remains are those of members of a Volkssturm unit who were buried in the grave after the fighting. During this stage of the excavation, the researchers found the remains of 22 soldiers who may potentially be identified.
