Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said in an interview on the Fox Business Network on Friday that the U.S. “may unsanction other Russian oil,” effectively lifting legal and financial restrictions on the sale of Russian fossil fuels. He noted that there are hundreds of millions of barrels of sanctioned crude oil at sea and that the Treasury Department can give buyers permission to purchase it. The United States on Thursday night granted India permission to purchase Russian oil that is stranded at sea for 30 days.
